“Through the Flames”
~~~ Green Estate-Front Lawn - 7:07 pm~~~
Mr. Green lights his cigarette with a match. Nurse Tennre talks ambitiously about how they will succeed into greater things once Victor is killed. Ms. Magenta drives in the front gates and gets out of her car.
“Still no luck?” asks Ms. Magenta
“Not even a car that color.” Nurse Tennre sighs
“He must be residing somewhere in the neighborhood tonight.” Ms. Magenta says
“He has to be killed!” Forest says puffing smoke into the crisp night air, “The building of the Spa will be done… just not as large as my father wanted. After all, we only need the spa for an unsuspicious place for the shipments.”
“Is this why you killed your father?” Nurse Tennre rolls her eyes, “Your father was a good man, he sure knew how to deal with the police.”
“And you don’t think I learnt a thing from him?” asks Forest
“Well, I think you made a huge mistake in killing him.” Nurse Tennre says
Ms. Magenta smirks, “Well he’s dead! Get over it! The only thing that stands in our way is a teenager. If Forest has been able to lodge a bullet into the head of the mob, I don’t think we’ll have a trouble with a scrawny teenager… especially since we know who he is.”
“Madeline… we don’t know who he is.” Forest says looking at her with an uplifted eyebrow
“Oh, don’t we?” she holds up Victor’s cell phone
Nurse Tennre gasps and smiles, “You think…”
“Victor Plum; age seventeen; son of Professor Gregory Plum and Marie Boddy; nephew to John Boddy who lives in this neighborhood.” Ms. Magenta smiles broadly
“You think…” Forest smiles
“It’s worth a try.” Ms. Magenta says
Forest gets into his green convertible and drives off…
~~~ Rose Estate-Driveway - 7:09 pm~~~
Mrs. Rose, dressed in a black shirt and black pants lays still in the backseat of Professor Plum’s car. After a few minutes she hears footsteps approaching the car and two men talking… One is Professor Plum, the other is Dr. Rose.
“It just wish I could have been there to see it.” Dr. Rose says
“It wasn’t that pretty.” Professor Plum says plainly
“Here.” Dr. Rose hands Professor Plum an envelope.
“What is it?” asks Professor Plum
“It’s my way of thanking you for riding me of her.” Dr. Rose says, “Inside is $60.000.”
“What will you tell your children when the return?” asks Professor Plum… realizing he said too much
“I guess Mary had small talk with you.” Dr. Rose says
“She mentioned her children as I murdered her.” Professor Plum lies
“I am going to do the riskiest thing I can.” Dr. Rose says
“What?” asks Professor Plum
“Come back tomorrow and find out…” Dr. Rose smirks
Professor Plum nervously walks to the driver’s side of the car and gets in. He closes the door and starts the engine. He cautiously pulls out of the driveway. Once out of view from the house, Mrs. Rose sits up.
“Well?” she asks
“He’s going to do something ‘risky’.” Professor Plum says
“I have to make some sort of contact with my children to tell them I’m okay.” Mrs. Rose says
“As of now, that is risky.” Professor Plum says
“They are my kids, they won’t slip up…” Mrs. Rose says
“Mary, I almost slipped up…” Professor Plum says, “How are two kids going to keep this secret? How old are they anyway?”
“Nine and nineteen.” Mrs. Rose says, “I just hope Carl doesn’t harm them…”
~~~ Rose Estate-Library- 7:11 pm~~~
Dr. Rose holds a bucket full of liquid and pours some on the books, rug, couches, and then on the hall stairs. He walks down the back hall, leaving a trail of it until he comes to the kitchen. Once entering the kitchen he douses the stove and the drapes. He then walks across the hall to a small sun room where he pours it on the dried and dead leaves of the plants. He pours the rest of the bucket on the wicker furniture. Dr. Rose grabs a candle and a candlestick from a shelf and places it on the wicker table. He grabs a newspaper which lies on the floor and wraps it around the candle. Dr. Rose pulls out a match book and lights the candle. Some wax drips on the newspaper as the candle shrinks… drawing closer to the paper… Dr. Rose leaves the house through the backdoor.
~~~ Peacock Residence-Hall- 7:13 pm~~~
Mrs. Peacock and Miss Scarlet enter through the front door, arguing…
“If I would have known Mike Mustard was going to be there… I… I never would have come.” Mrs. Peacock says
“And miss a social event? Ha!” Miss Scarlet laughs, “If you weren’t present for ever bit of gossip your head would explode!” Miss Scarlet rushes to the stairs.
“Where are you going?” asks Mrs. Peacock
“To my bedroom…” Miss Scarlet says a door slams…
“Oh God!” Mrs. Peacock closes her eyes and puts her hand on her forehead, “Daniel! A glass of cherry…”
No response
“Daniel?” she shouts, and then she realizes it’s his night off.
Mrs. Peacock goes to the study and sees a stack of papers. She begins to breathe quickly. Mrs. Peacock suddenly throws herself on the desk and scatters the papers everywhere. She stands up and opens up a cabinet with antiques in it. She grabs gold trimmed vase and throws it at the fireplace… holding a shard in her hand she tears open her wrist. Blood drips on the papers. Miss Scarlet enters.
“Mother!” she gasps seeing her mother’s slit wrists.
Miss Scarlet grabs the phone.
~~~ Brunette Home-Living Room- 7:13 pm~~~
A woman with dark blonde hair sits in front of the warm fire from the fireplace. She is reading a magazine and looks very bored. She is Adela Brunette… formerly LeBlanc…
A young teen ager enters the house.
“Monique?” Madame Brunette looks up
“Hello mother.” She says
“How was practice?” asks Mme. Brunette
“I could kill that man!” Monique bursts out, a tear runs down her red face.
“What happened?” asks Mme. Brunette, standing up
“He hit me again!” Monique says
“Oh, my poor dear.” Mme. Brunette pulls Monique close to her
“I just… just… I want to…” Monique’s words are muffled by her tears.
“Why don’t you pours yourself some water and try to relax.” Mme. Brunette says
“Mother, he’s ruining our lives!” Monique says, “If I quit he will reveal what daddy did!”
“Your father can handle it… it’s his word against ours… after all, he’s always drunk, no one will believe him.” Mme. Brunette soothes
“No! He’s got photo evidence.” Monique says
“Then your right, something must be done…” Mme. Brunette says
~~~ Rose Estate-Sun Room- 7:14 pm~~~
The candle has gotten smaller and the tip of paper around the candle has darkened corners. The paper suddenly catches fire. Within a minute the entire paper is consumed and the flame touches a puddle of the liquid on the table. The trail of gas illuminates the halls of the mansion as the fire scorches the walls. The books in the library fall off the shelves as the flames burn through the shelves; the sofas are singed; the wall paper peels; a parrot in it’s cage squawks helplessly as the flames mar it’s feathers; the drapes fall to the floor; in the hall the chandelier gives way and crashes to the floor, sending hot glass crystals everywhere; plants in the sun room wilt and fade; the stove in the kitchen explodes sending glass and burning wood into the perfectly manicured lawn behind the rose estate.
~~~ Jon Quil Ave. - continuous~~~
Within minutes every window of the Rose Estate is illuminated by flames and furniture crashing through the floors. An Ambulance pulls up in front of the Peacock Residence and is in shock by the sight across the street. The paramedics can’t do anything but get out a gurney and head into the house that is still standing. The sound of fire truck sirens fills the air. Dr. Rose lays unconscious next to the kitchen window of the Rose Estate, a piece of hot pipe knocked into the back of his head during the explosion… Little does Dr. Rose realize this will be what proves him innocent from the arson charge of him burning down his house…
